Job Description
Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for working cross-functionally to understand architecture needs by multiple business units. To be effective in this position, you must feel comfortable owning the entire architecture development process from inception to completion.
Responsibilities
- Analyzing and understanding business requirements for data analysis and reporting.
- Designing, developing and maintaining business intelligence solutions.
- Designing data models and schemas for optimal reporting performance.
- Transforming, cleaning, and preparing data for use in Power BI.
- Integrating data from various sources, such as databases, APIs, and files.
- Managing data refresh schedules and ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
- Setting up role-based security and managing user access to reports and dashboards, and implementing data-level security to restrict access to sensitive data.
- Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks in reports and data models.
- Tuning queries and optimizing data loading processes.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including data engineers and analysts.
- Managing projects involving Power BI development, including planning, tracking progress, and meeting deadlines.
- Documenting data sources, models, and report specifications.
- Diagnosing and resolving issues with Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Providing technical support to end users and addressing their queries.
- Staying informed about industry trends and evolving Power BI capabilities.
- Design and develop efficient and optimized data models (star, snowflake, galaxy schema) for Power BI solutions.
DAX Expertise & Other:
- Write and optimize complex DAX calculations
- Build dynamic, reusable measures and calculated columns for advanced reporting scenarios.
- Manage and optimize large datasets, ensuring performance and efficiency in reports and dashboards
- Implement custom conditional formatting using DAX and Power BIs formatting tools to highlight key data points.
- Build and configure parameters, creating dynamic reports that adapt based on user inputs.
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks in data models and DAX queries.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in one or more of the following tools - Power Apps, MicroStrategy , Superset , Grafana , Tableau etc..
- Proficiency in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
- Working experience on SQL Server for database management and data retrieval.
- Azure Data Services: Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage, and other Azure data services for cloud-based data storage and processing.
- Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for creating custom calculations.
- Experience with data source connectors, APIs, and data extraction.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Certifications in Power BI, such as the Microsoft Certified: Power BI certification, is a plus.
