Biw Design Engineer-(Upper body, Under body and Closures) @ Alten

Job Description

Role & responsibilities: BIW Design:

• BIW structure Upper body, Under body and closures ( A pillar, B pillar, Rear pillar, Roof panel, Sie door, Hood, Tailgate, Trunk lid, Sill panel, floor panel, BIW Reinforcement, Rear panel, Roof panel)
• New Parts Development (NPD)
• CATIA V5 (3D/2D Drawings & Surfacing)
• BIW parts design & development

Key Requirement:

• 3 to 9 years of experience in Automotive BIW Design using CATIA V5
• Strong knowledge of BIW design and development of body structure from concept to production stage
• Able to develop master sections and feasible study
• Ability to work with styling teams to convert design concepts into manufacturable parts.
• Good understanding of sheet metal parts material, manufacturing process, assembly, crashworthiness
• Good knowledge in GD&T, sheet metal tolerance, DFM & DFA
• Optimize the designs for weight reduction, cost efficiency and manufacturing without compromising the performance
• Provide design solutions based on CAE feedback
• Ability to take independent technical decisions based on engineering requirement
• Liaison with supplier teams for validation and release.
• Experience in benchmarking, packaging studies, and defining optimal design solutions.
• Strong problem-solving, project management & communication skill
