VMware by Broadcom is a leader in datacenter infrastructure, networking, security, and virtualization software. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer to join the Security Services Platform (SSP) team within the Application Networking and Security (ANS) division.
SSP is a fast-paced, tight-knit team focused on building a highly scalable, auto recovering, and fault tolerant distributed analytics platform. This platform powers our advanced security solutions such as Distributed Firewall Recommendation, Network Traffic Anomalies Detection, Network Flows Visualization and Monitoring, Intrusion Detection and Prevention and Malware Prevention.
We are seeking passionate engineers eager to solve customer challenges as part of an innovative and collaborative team. Youll be working on technologies like Kubernetes, Helm, Envoy, Contour, Kafka, Postgres, MinIO, Java, Golang and Python.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing

You will contribute to key pieces of SSP, including but not limited to the LCM of a scalable Kubernetes cluster, backup & restore, upgrade, AAA, trust management, monitoring and diagnostics.

You will analyze and improve performance, scalability, and stability of SSP when hosting big data applications that ingest and process terabytes of data.

You will collaborate effectively with other engineers and researchers to solve complex problems.

You will work with a global team in different geographical locations and will have a unique opportunity to be mentored by industry experts.

You will be driven and passionate about understanding customer needs and crafting high quality solutions to meet those needs.

Lead and participate in design/code reviews to build a highly scalable and performant distributed system.

Translate business requirements into high quality, well-tested code.

Troubleshoot products and systems using logs, metrics and traces across the application/system boundaries.

Produce quality documentation for your work.

You have a Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent.

Experience in developing distributed, multi-tier enterprise applications.

Solid knowledge of OOP concepts, object/data modeling, and data structures.

Deep working knowledge/expertise in at least one of Java or Golang.

Background in Relational Databases and NOSQL Databases.

Experience with Spring and SpringBoot

Experience with Kubernetes, Envoy, Kafka, Postgres
Bachelor degree in Computer Science / Engineering and 8+ years of related experience or Masters degree in Computer Science / Engineering and 6+ years of related experience

He leads the SSP charter for the VMware vDefend Advanced Threat Prevention (ATP) Product in ANSBU that is responsible for security policy management, analytics, and compliance with data center-wide visibility.
