Role & responsibilities
Conduct preanesthetic assessment, including review of history, examination, risk stratification, and optimization of patients for anesthesia.
Explain anesthetic plan, risks, benefits, and alternatives to patients and/or families; obtain informed consent as per hospital policy.
Administer anesthesia (general, regional, local, sedation) for elective and emergency surgical and diagnostic procedures in line with accepted standards and hospital protocols.
Monitor patients vital signs, depth of anesthesia, fluid and blood product requirements, and adjust anesthetic management accordingly to maintain hemodynamic stability and patient safety.
Provide safe emergence from anesthesia, ensuring airway protection, adequate ventilation, pain control, and transfer to recovery/postanesthesia care unit (PACU).
Manage acute postoperative pain and immediate postoperative complications in PACU, ICU, and wards as required.
Participate in the anesthesia management of highrisk patients and complex surgeries in collaboration with surgical and critical care teams.
Provide emergency anesthesia and resuscitation services (e.g., trauma, code blue response, obstetric emergencies) within the scope of the agreed parttime roster.
