Role & responsibilities
1. Linux Server Administration:
Install, configure, and manage Linux servers (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
Perform system updates, patches, and security configurations to ensure system stability and security.
Monitor server performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis to resolve system problems.
2. Storage Management:
Manage and maintain storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, and DAS.
Configure and optimize storage arrays, volumes, and file systems for performance and capacity.
Monitor storage performance and capacity, and plan for future growth.
3. System Security and Compliance:
Implement security best practices for Linux servers and storage systems.
Manage access controls, encryption, and security policies to protect data and systems.
Respond to and resolve security incidents and vulnerabilities promptly.
4. Backup and Disaster Recovery:
Configure and manage backup solutions for Linux servers and storage environments.
Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, ensuring the availability and integrity of data.
Regularly test backup and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
5. Automation and Scripting:
Develop scripts using Bash, Python, or other scripting languages to automate routine tasks.
Implement automation tools to improve efficiency in system and storage management.
6. Monitoring and Performance Optimization:
Set up and maintain monitoring tools to track the performance and availability of Linux servers and storage systems.
Analyze performance data to identify and resolve bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
Proactively address potential issues to prevent service disruptions.
7. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed documentation of system and storage configurations, procedures, and changes.
Generate regular reports on system and storage performance, incidents, and resource utilization.
Document and communicate changes, incidents, and resolutions to relevant stakeholders.
8. Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with application, network, and security teams to ensure optimal system and storage performance.
Provide support to end-users and other IT teams for Linux and storage-related issues.
Assist in the planning and execution of infrastructure projects and upgrades.
