- we are searching for a Mainframe Developer.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain batch and online applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2 in a mainframe environment.
- Analyze existing programs and job flows to implement enhancements, resolve defects, and improve system performance.
- Write and maintain JCL scripts for scheduling and running batch processes.
- Create and modify CICS screens and transaction logic for online processing applications.
- Interact with DB2 databases for data retrieval, manipulation, and reporting through embedded SQL in COBOL.
- Support production systems by monitoring job runs, resolving failures, and providing on-call assistance as needed.
- Collaborate with business analysts and QA teams to understand requirements and ensure proper implementation.
- Participate in migration, modernization, or integration efforts involving legacy mainframe systems.
- Document application changes, job dependencies, and support procedures in accordance with company standards.
Skills
Must have
- COBOL: Proficient in writing, maintaining, and debugging COBOL programs for batch and online processing.
- JCL (Job Control Language): Experienced in creating and managing JCL scripts to schedule and execute batch jobs on mainframe systems.
- CICS (Customer Information Control System): Skilled in developing and maintaining CICS-based online transaction processing systems.
- DB2: Strong understanding of DB2 database management, including writing and optimizing SQL queries within COBOL programs.
Nice to have
- 5 years experience in General Insurance or Personal/Commercial Insurance projects
