Playwright Test Automation Engineer (ServiceNow)

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Playwright Test Automation Engineer with ServiceNow experience to design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for ServiceNow applications. This role combines deep knowledge of UI and API automation with Playwright and hands-on experience working within the ServiceNow ecosystem.
The ideal candidate has strong expertise in test automation, JavaScript/TypeScript, testing best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and ServiceNow platform functionalities. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality automated test suites that improve test coverage, accelerate delivery, and ensure stability of ServiceNow modules and custom applications.
Key Responsibilities
Test Automation Development
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright (JavaScript/TypeScript preferred).
- Build reusable automation frameworks for UI, API, and end-to-end testing.
- Implement test fixtures, selectors, page objects, and utilities for scalable testing.
- Ensure automation suite is reliable, maintainable, and aligned with project architecture.
ServiceNow Testing
- Create automated test cases for ServiceNow modules (ITSM, HRSD, CSM, ITOM, ITBM, or custom apps).
- Automate workflows involving:
- Catalog items
- Request fulfillment
- Forms and UI policies
- Business rules, workflows, UI scripts
- Custom ServiceNow applications
- Validate ServiceNow integrations, outbound REST calls, and custom APIs.
Quality Assurance & Functional Testing
- Understand functional requirements, acceptance criteria, and workflows to create complete test coverage.
- Perform functional/regression tests where automation is not feasible.
- Identify defects early and work closely with developers, admins, and product owners for resolution.
Continuous Integration & Delivery
- Integrate Playwright tests with CI/CD systems such as:
- GitHub Actions
- Jenkins
- Azure DevOps
- GitLab CI
- Configure pipelines to run automated suites on schedule and PR-level triggers.
- Track execution trends and maintain healthy build pipelines.
Test Strategy & Documentation
- Contribute to test plans, automation strategy, and documentation for frameworks and test cases.
- Maintain test case repositories (manual and automated).
- Ensure proper version control using Git.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with:
- ServiceNow developers
- Test architects
- Business analysts
- Scrum Masters
- Product teams
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Reviews, Retros).
- Provide regular updates on automation coverage, quality metrics, and risks.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
Playwright Automation
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright framework.
- Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript test automation.
- Experience in writing UI and API automated tests.
- Understanding of Page Object Model (POM), test fixtures, async/await patterns, locators, and selectors.
ServiceNow Platform Skills
- Experience testing ServiceNow modules (ITSM, HRSD, CSM, etc.).
- Ability to validate workflows, forms, business rules, UI policies, roles, ACLs, and integrations.
- Basic understanding of ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript) is a plus.
- Knowledge of ServiceNow ATF (Automated Test Framework) is desirable.
API Testing
- Experience testing REST APIs using:
- Playwright API testing
- Postman / Newman
- REST-assured (optional)
Functional, Regression & E2E Testing
- Strong background in SDLC and STLC.
- Experience designing test cases, test plans, and reusable automated tests.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodology.
CI/CD & DevOps
- Experience integrating test automation with CI tools:
- Jenkins / Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions / GitLab CI
- Hands-on with version control (Git, GitHub, Bitbucket, GitLab).
Tools & Technologies
- Languages: JavaScript / TypeScript, basic Java/Python (optional).
- Automation Framework: Playwright (must have).
- ServiceNow Tools: ServiceNow ATF, ServiceNow Studio, MID Server (optional).
- API Tools: Postman, Swagger, Curl.
- CI Tools: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI.
- Others: JIRA, Confluence, TestRail, Zephyr, ALM, etc.

- Basic knowledge of ServiceNow development / scripting (JavaScript, GlideRecord).
- Knowledge of:
- Selenium / Cypress / Playwright advanced features
- Docker-based test execution
- Quality gates and metric dashboards
- ISTQB or equivalent QA certification.
