Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced BI Developer to join our growing data analytics team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and business intelligence solutions, with hands-on expertise in Power BI, SQL, and experience working with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure Databricks.
You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance reporting and analytics solutions that drive data-driven decision-making across enterprise stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive, scalable, and high-performance Power BI dashboards and reports for business users across multiple domains.
- Write complex, optimized SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and aggregation from relational and non-relational databases (Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).
- Collaborate with data engineers and architects to build and optimize data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Databricks for large-scale data processing.
- Develop and maintain semantic models (star schema, snowflake schema) and implement DAX measures for accurate business logic representation.
- Perform data quality checks, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting of data inconsistencies across sources and reports.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical specifications, and deliver actionable insights.
- Optimize report performance through query tuning, data modeling best practices, and efficient use of aggregations and caching.
- Implement row-level security (RLS) and dynamic filtering to ensure data governance and compliance.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps for version control, testing, and deployment of Power BI artifacts.
- Support data governance initiatives including metadata management, lineage tracking, and documentation using tools like Azure Purview.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or related roles.
- Expertise in Power BI (including DAX, Power Query, data modeling, performance optimization, and deployment strategies).
- Strong SQL proficiency ability to write complex queries, optimize performance, and work with large datasets.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) for ETL/ELT orchestration.
- Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, or Azure Data Warehouse.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms especially Azure Databricks (good-to-have).
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts (dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas).
- Experience in Agile/Scrum environments with strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001/27701) is a plus.
