Job Description
Purpose of Job:
The DB engineer would be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of database systems hosted on AWS and Azure cloud platforms. This role ensures the security, availability, performance, and scalability of databases that support Newgen product and analytics hosted on CCS (Cloud and Cyber Security group). The DB engineer (DBA) works closely with infrastructure, delivery and security teams to manage cloud-based database environments, implement best practices, and deliver reliable data solutions that align with organizational goals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Delivery commitment and Ticket Resolution (Cloud DB tickets): Design, deploy, and manage cloud database solutions, ensure 99.9% or higher database uptime across AWS and Azure environments, data change request processing, Resolve database incidents within defined SLAs
- Quality and Process compliance: Ensure full security compliance, Audit reports preparation, ensure security of database systems by implementing necessary access controls, encryption, and compliance measures etc.
- Process Improvement, Automation and Optimization: Drive process enhancement through proof of concepts (POCs), automation, and optimization initiatives. Achieve optimal query performance and resource utilization to minimize costs. Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Timely and accurate processing of database change requests (CRs) and maintenance of internal task trackers.
- Preparation and submission of internal/external audit reports and monthly database review reports.
- Adherence to process compliance standards no major non-compliances and up to two minor observations.
- Development and periodic review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Contribution of new ideas and proactive initiatives for process improvement and automation.
- Educational Qualifications:
- B. Tech / B.E. / MCA
- Relevant Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in database administration and cloud database management.
- Technical & Behavioural Skills:
- Expertise in MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and AWS/Azure database administration.
- Knowledge of database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high-availability solutions.
- Strong understanding of security compliance and process documentation.
- Certifications such as EDB Postgres SQL Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or equivalent.
- Proactive, analytical, and detail-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
