Job Description Oracle Application Database Administrator
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Application Oracle DBA who specializes in data modeling, SQL performance optimization, and supporting development teams in building scalable, secure, and highly performant database solutions. This role focuses on the logical and application layers of Oracle database systems including schema design, indexing strategies, optimization, and query tuning.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with application architects and developers to design efficient database schemas, tables, views, and objects aligned with business and application requirements.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, packages, triggers, and functions.
- Define indexing strategies and data partitioning for performance and scalability.
- Conduct proactive performance tuning of SQL, and application-driven database workloads.
- Review database access patterns and recommend improvements for query optimization.
- Work closely with development teams to support code deployment, release validation, and impact analysis on data models.
- Ensure data integrity, normalization/denormalization, and enforcement of business rules.
- Maintain documentation on data models, data dictionaries, and database standards.
- Participate in code reviews and advise teams on best practices for SQL and schema design.
- Support functional testing and performance/load testing environments.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years experience as an Application Oracle DBA
- Strong expertise in SQL performance tuning (execution plans, hints, optimizer behavior)
- Hands-on experience with data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin, Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler)
- Deep understanding of indexing, partitioning, constraints, and query execution paths
- Experience supporting Agile software development and CI/CD environments
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience designing databases for high-volume transaction processing (OLTP)
- Experience with logical standby/Data Guard and schema-level replication
- Exposure to cloud-based database services (OCI, AWS RDS, Azure Oracle)
- Knowledge of ETL/ELT patterns and integration with analytics tools
- Oracle certifications (OCA/OCP) in database development or performance tuning
