Role Overview
CirrusLabs is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our client project with Green Dot Corporation. This role is part of the Network Engineering (NE) Team, which is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting secure and scalable network infrastructures for enterprise-grade applications and services across on-premise and cloud environments.
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a key role in architecting, automating, and maintaining the network ecosystem that powers mission-critical business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Architecture & Design:
Design and deploy enterprise-grade network solutions that span both public cloud (AWS, Azure) and on-prem environments.
- Device Configuration & Management:
Configure, manage, and optimize routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, and other network components.
- Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
Monitor and analyze network performance to identify and resolve issues related to latency, packet loss, throughput, and connectivity.
- Automation & Orchestration:
Implement network automation using Ansible, Python, or Terraform, ensuring consistency, scalability, and reduced manual errors.
- Security & Compliance:
Collaborate with InfoSec and DevOps teams to enforce zero-trust architectures, secure configurations, and compliance with standards like PCI DSS and SOC 2.
- Incident Response & RCA:
Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and remediation for critical network outages or performance degradations.
- Documentation & Standardization:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of network architecture, configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and topology diagrams.
- Mentorship & Collaboration:
Guide junior engineers, share best practices, and participate in cross-functional initiatives to enhance overall infrastructure reliability and performance.
Qualifications & Skills
Must Have:
- 67 years of hands-on experience in network engineering or infrastructure operations.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and subnetting.
- Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, and Fortinet network devices.
- Expertise in cloud networking (AWS & Azure):
- AWS: VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPN
- Azure: VNets, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways
- Working knowledge of SD-WAN, network segmentation, and zero-trust security frameworks.
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting for automation.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Datadog, Prometheus, and log aggregation using ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
- Strong understanding of security best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS, SOC 2).
Good to Have:
- Familiarity with Kubernetes networking (CNI, ingress/egress).
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience working in agile environments and DevOps-based network automation pipelines.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, PCNSE, or AWS Advanced Networking are a plus.
