Job Description
IT - OT Project Manager Infrastructure
Role Summary
Experienced Project Manager to plan and deliver IT OT infrastructure projects across customer locations. Scope includes plant-floor connectivity, controls networking, secure remote access, segmentation (zones/conduits), server/virtualization platforms, historian/OPC connectivity, plant wireless, CCTV/access control backbones, and hardened OT workstations/engineering endpoints.
Note: No MES ownershipthis role excludes MES application build/run.
Responsibilities
- End-to-end delivery: scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, comms, change control, and stakeholder alignment for multi-site programs.
- Plant-floor infrastructure execution: L2/L3, VLANs/QoS, routed cells, time sync (PTP/NTP), DMZ/jump hosts, secure vendor access, AD/identity for OT, hypervisors/servers/storage, backup/restore, endpoint hardening.
- IT/OT integration: governed interconnects between enterprise and controls; separation of duties, allow-listing, patch cadences suited to OT, and maintenance window planning.
- Security & compliance: align to IEC 62443, NIST CSF/800-82, ISO 27001, site safety, and corporate standards; manage audit findings to closure.
- Vendors & contractors: define SOWs, manage deliverables & site work windows, lead FAT/SAT, acceptance/turnover; hold partners to SLAs.
- Operational readiness: cutover/MOPs/rollback, spares, as-builts, user/admin runbooks, training, and clean handoff to operations.
- Lifecycle & standards: plan EOL/firmware/OS upgrades; contribute to the OT standards catalog, images, and reference BOMs.
- Financials & reporting: CapEx/OpEx estimates, change orders, actuals vs. plan; maintain RAID (risks, assumptions, issues, deps), milestone burn-down, and site readiness.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- 58+ years leading OT/industrial infrastructure projects (manufacturing, power, pulp & paper, chemicals, etc.).
- Demonstrated command of Purdue/OSI layers 07 and live-plant realities (EHS, LOTO, hot work, shifts).
- Hands-on familiarity with industrial Ethernet; VLANs/QoS; routed cells; PTP/NTP; firewall zoning/segmentation; VPN/secure vendor access; jump hosts; AD/identity for OT; VMware/Hyper-V; backup/DR; and hardening of OT endpoints.
- Delivered projects using IEC 62443 and NIST 800-82 principles.
- Multi-site rollout and vendor/SI management experience.
- PM fundamentals: WBS, critical path, risk matrix, change control; tools (MS Project/Planner or similar).
- Stakeholder finesse across plant engineers, EHS, corporate IT/security, procurement.
Nice-to-Have
- PMP/PRINCE2; ITIL for service transition.
- Networking/security certs (e.g., CCNA/FCNSP) or ISA/IEC 62443 certificates.
- Exposure to historian/OPC UA/DA, data diodes, serial-to-IP gateways, time-series pipelines (infra side only).
- Experience with CCTV/VMS/NVR/access-control backbones (infra perspective).
- Familiarity with validated/regulated change-managed environments.
- Scripting/automation (PowerShell/Python) for docs/config a plus.
Out of Scope
- MES/application build/run.
- PLC/DCS programming (coordinate infra prerequisites only).
Tools & Environment
MS Project/Planner, ServiceNow (Ideas Demand Project), SharePoint, Visio, Excel; strict change control/MOC and plant safety procedures; collaboration with IT Network/Security, OT Engineers, EHS, Procurement, and external SIs.
