We at Tata Elxsi are hiring for a software test engineer for Pune Location.

Role: Software Test Engineer
Exp: 3-6 yrs

Location: Pune

Job Description:

Core Testing Skills-

• Strong SDLC/STLC knowledge and understanding of software development and testing life cycles
• Requirement analysis and test design with clear test scenarios and detailed test cases
• Exploratory and session-based testing
• Test planning, scheduling, and effort estimation
• Defect management, bug life cycle, severity and priority assignment, root cause analysis

Technical/Domain Knowledge-

• Web and mobile testing including responsive UI/UX and cross-browser/device validation
• API testing using tools like Postman or Swagger, validating JSON and XML
• Database and SQL for data verification and backend validation
• Basic networking concepts such as HTTP/HTTPS, cookies, caching, request and response headers
• Ability to quickly grasp complex business logic in any domain

Tools & Utilities-

• Defect tracking tools and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or Bugzilla
• Browser developer tools, Charles, or Fiddler for network analysis

Quality & Compliance

• Knowledge of security and privacy best practices
• Performance testing fundamentals and ability to spot performance bottlenecks

Soft Skills & Mindset-

• Analytical and critical thinking to identify edge cases and anticipate failures
• Strong communication and documentation skills for clear bug reports and test cases
• Collaboration with developers, product owners, and automation teams
• Curious, detail-oriented, and proactive in asking questions

Nice to Have-

• Exposure to automation tools like Selenium, Appium, or REST Assured
• Familiarity with CI/CD environments such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams
