Job Description GCP Cloud Architect
Cloud Infrastructure & Operations
- Deploy, manage, and operate scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Migrate on-premises workloads to GCP, ensuring seamless data flow and secure handoff using Migrate for Compute Engine, Velostrata, or Transfer Appliance.
- Implement and control data movement using appropriate GCP services such as Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and Dataflow, aligned with compute, storage, and security needs.
- Select and recommend optimal GCP services based on business, compliance, and operational requirements.
- Adopt GCP operational best practices for performance, cost, and resiliency using Operations Suite (formerly Stackdriver).
- Estimate GCP usage costs and identify cost optimization and control mechanisms using Cost Management tools, Billing Reports, and Recommender API.
- Monitor, manage, and optimize GCP infrastructure and applications through Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and third-party tools.
- Ensure compliance with GCP security, governance, and industry regulations using Security Command Center, IAM, and Organization Policies.
End-to-End GCP Support
- Manage multi-project GCP environments using Resource Hierarchy, Folders, and Organization Policies.
- Implement and configure continuous compliance and security monitoring with Security Command Center Premium.
- Set up and operate Cloud Armor, Chronicle, and Threat Intelligence for threat detection and ongoing security analysis.
- Ensure resource and configuration visibility, adherence to policies, and change tracking with Cloud Asset Inventory and Config Connector.
- Utilize Web Security Scanner and Security Health Analytics for vulnerability management and automated security assessments.
- Architect, configure, and maintain IAM roles, policies, and federations (e.g., SAML integrations with providers like Azure AD or Okta).
- Develop remediation workflows for non-compliant resources using Cloud Functions, Workflows, or Automation via Terraform.
Automation and Observability
- Leverage shell scripting (Bash, Python, Go) to automate GCP operations, routine tasks, and configuration management.
- Practice GitOps methodologies using Cloud Source Repositories, Cloud Build, and Terraform.
- Support containerized and orchestrated workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP services like GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine); administer advanced scaling with Horizontal Pod Autoscaler, KEDA, or Autopilot mode.
- Deploy, configure, and monitor solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, and Cloud Operations Suite.
- Maintain accurate, detailed documentation for infrastructure, automation, troubleshooting, and solutions.
Infrastructure as Code
- Develop, manage, and optimize IaC using Terraform, Deployment Manager, or Pulumi; modularize and version template repositories to enforce consistency and reusability.
Security and Governance
- Implement cloud security best practices using GCP-native security and compliance services.
- Design, review, and continuously improve secure GCP architectures utilizing multiple security layers including VPC Service Controls, IAM, Cloud Armor, and Confidential Computing.
- Respond to vulnerability findings, security alerts, and compliance deviations leveraging Security Command Center, Web Security Scanner, and Policy Intelligence.
General Skills
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and performance optimization capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Unix/Linux systems, networking, and workload management.
- Agile/Scrum mindset, rapid learning, and innovation; ability to propose end-to-end solutions and build POCs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to collaborate with diverse technical teams.
Desired Skills
- Quick learner with strong R&D and POC development orientation.
- Experience in Agile/Scrum-based project execution.
- Knowledge of enterprise observability practices, cloud cost management, and infrastructure optimization.
