Job Description

Job Summary:

The Medical Records Assistant is responsible for maintaining, organizing, and retrieving patient health information and records in an accurate, secure, and confidential manner. This is an entry-level position suitable for recent graduates or individuals new to the healthcare documentation field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and maintain patient medical records and files (electronic and paper-based).
  • Enter, update, and verify patient information in the hospitals record system.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with healthcare data protection policies.
  • Retrieve and file records as requested by authorized personnel.
  • Assist in preparing and scanning documents for electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Support doctors, nurses, and administrative staff in accessing necessary records.
  • Maintain logs, indexes, and tracking systems for medical documents.
  • Assist with auditing and quality checks of medical records.
  • Respond to patient or insurance record requests under supervision.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Medical Records Officer.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or diploma in Health Information Management, Medical Records Technology, Hospital Administration, or a related field.
  • Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data confidentiality.

  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Basic data entry and computer literacy
  • Team player with a professional attitude
