Job Description
Role Overview
As a Senior Motor Systems Mechanical Engineer, youll take ownership of the
mechanical design, integration, and validation of electric motorcycle propulsion
componentsincluding the motor, inverter, gearbox, and cooling systems. Youll lead
concept-to-production development, ensuring structural integrity, thermal efficiency, and
manufacturability of motor assemblies that balance high performance with durability and
cost.
This role requires strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, practical experience
with high-voltage rotating machinery, and the ability to collaborate closely with electrical,
firmware, and systems engineers to deliver best-in-class powertrain performance.
What Youll Do
Lead the mechanical design and integration of electric drive system
components (motor, inverter, gearbox, and related mounts).
Own the 3D CAD modeling, tolerance analysis, and drawing release for
propulsion components and assemblies.
Develop cooling, structural, and vibration mitigation solutions for high-
power-density motor systems.
Collaborate with electrical and thermal engineers to optimize electromagnetic,
thermal, and mechanical interactions.
Perform structural, fatigue, and thermal FEA to validate component
performance under real-world loading conditions.
Define material selection and surface treatments for durability, corrosion
resistance, and thermal performance.
Partner with manufacturing to ensure designs are optimized for DFM/DFA and
support the transition from prototype to production.
Support root-cause analysis for field issues, warranty returns, and test failures;
implement corrective design actions.
Participate in dyno, vibration, and thermal testing, interpreting data to validate
and refine designs.
Generate and maintain technical documentation, test reports, and engineering
change records.
Provide mentorship to junior engineers and collaborate cross-functionally to
achieve aggressive performance and reliability goals.
What Youll Bring
Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
710 years of experience in mechanical design and integration of motors,
gearboxes, or powertrain systemspreferably in EV, automotive, or
aerospace applications.
Proficiency in 3D CAD (Creo, SolidWorks, or Siemens NX) and FEA tools
(Ansys, Abaqus, or similar).
Strong understanding of mechanical dynamics, thermal management, and
materials science for rotating machinery.
Experience designing sealed housings, bearing systems, cooling jackets,
and torque-transmission components.
Familiarity with electromagnetic machine packaging, insulation systems, and
EMI/thermal trade-offs.
Demonstrated success with prototype development, validation testing, and
root-cause failure analysis.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes (casting, machining, injection molding,
additive manufacturing, etc.) and GD&&T standards.
Excellent cross-functional communication and documentation skills.
Passion for innovation, electrification, and building world-class motorcycles.
Physical Requirements
Regular use of CAD workstations, lab instruments, and test fixtures.
Occasional lifting of prototype assemblies up to 25 lbs.
Comfortable working in lab and dyno environments, including participation in
physical test setup and data collection.
