Job Description
- As an Applications Development Senior Big Data Engineer, you will be responsible for managing a team to establish and implement new application systems. Your role will involve driving applications systems analysis, development, and maintenance activities, actively participating in the entire software/application development lifecycle. **Key Responsibilities:** - Manage one or more Applications Development teams to achieve established goals - Provide technical oversight across systems and applications using in-depth knowledge and skills - Review and analyze proposed technical solutions for projects - Contribute to formulating strategies for applications development - Develop comprehensive knowledge of business areas integration - Impact the Applications Development area through monitoring end results delivery, budget management, and staff management - Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards **Core Skills:** - Strong understanding of Big Data architecture and troubleshooting on Hadoop - Hands-on experience with Hive, Impala, Kafka, HBase, and Spark - Proficiency in Spark for development work, with strong Scala and Java background - Experience in Spark, Kafka, or equivalent streaming/batch processing - Data analysis skills, SQL and NoSQL database integration, and data distribution principles - Leadership & Mentorship abilities - Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences - Experience in DevOps Practices, Software Engineering Principles, and Data Visualization - Familiarity with Agile Methodologies **Additional Requirements (Nice to have):** - Experience with Graph Databases like Neo4j - Experience with API development and JSON/XML data formats **Qualifications:** - 6-10 years of relevant experience in Big Data Application Development - Experience as Applications Development Lead - Experience in senior-level Applications Development role - Stakeholder and people management experience - Basic knowledge of industry practices and standards **Education:** - Bachelors degree/University degree or equivalent experience - Masters degree preferred This job description provides a high-level overview of the work performed.
