Job Description
Role & responsibilities
System Administration
- Manage day-to-day operations of IBM i (AS/400 / iSeries) systems.
- Install, configure, and upgrade OS/400 and related software.
- Administer user profiles, security, and object-level access.
- Implement and monitor backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Perform system performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Manage system job queues, output queues, and spool files.
- Apply PTFs, patches, and ensure system maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and performance issues.
Training & Knowledge Transfer
- Design, develop, and deliver training programs on IBM i (AS/400) topics.
- Prepare instructional materials, user guides, and hands-on labs.
- Conduct classroom, virtual, and one-on-one training sessions.
- Train IT staff on CL commands, system operations, security, and monitoring procedures.
- Provide application-specific training (e.g., RPG operations, DB2 for i).
- Mentor junior staff and support ongoing skills development.
- Assess training effectiveness and update materials as needed.
Preferred candidate profile
- Experience with BRMS (Backup Recovery and Media Services).
- Knowledge of Power Systems hardware and LPAR management.
- Familiarity with DB2 for i, RPG, COBOL programming.
- Corporate training or adult learning certification (CTT+ or equivalent).
