Job Description
The Software Development Tooling specialist supports the strategy and governance of software development tools and practices to ensure efficiency, consistency, and high-quality delivery across teams. He supports the definition and maintenance of the Software Development Reference Architecture, aligning tools and methodologies with business needs. He facilitates the adoption of best practices through clear documentation, training, and stakeholder engagement. He leads the evolution of development tooling, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals, monitoring adoption, and optimizing performance through data-driven insights. He develops and maintains scripts and code necessary for tools best operation and interoperability of the other tools.
Role & responsibilities
Driving software development tool strategy, adoption, and consistency across teams:
- Support the work to define and maintain (with the teams) the Software development "reference architecture"
- Collect needs, analyze them to propose shared Global solution to fill those needs at Group level (examples: API automation testing, Code quality, Backlog Management)
- Create clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation that helps developers/teams understand how to effectively use the chosen software development tools (Azure DevOps suite, SonarQube, Grafana, Browserstack)
- Use teaching and communication skills to ensure teams and other stakeholders understand and follow the plan regarding software development tools; gather their feedback and use them to improve the documentation
- Produce metrics and dashboards to check the adoption of the tools and the performance of the supported development processes
- Administration (functional administration) of those tools
Technical expertise in software engineering & tool integration:
- Ability to develop and maintain some scripts about tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, SonarCloud, Grafana, etc.).
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve issues and unknown errors related to tool usage.
- Build custom extensions, connectors, or APIs to enable interoperability between tools and existing enterprise systems.
- Apply software engineering best practices (version control, testing, CI/CD, code reviews) in tool development and maintenance.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor degree or above in IT related topic; Computer Science, Computing / Electronics Engineering or MIS is preferred
- A solid understanding of software development concepts, tools (including QA and automation tools), and technologies. This includes familiarity with programming languages, version control systems, IDEs, and other development tools.
- More than 6 years experience in IT including software development practices, QA practices and/or automation tools
- Knowledge and use of the Azure DevOps suite is a plus
- Ability to work in a changing environment and as part of a team
- Innovative, resourceful, and autonomous
- Structured, assertive and with strong communication (Ability to write clearly and concisely) and knowledge sharing skills
- Can-do attitude and service-oriented
- Fluent in English
