Role Overview:
The Senior Cloud Administrator & Architect will design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable, and cost-optimized cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role bridges hands-on administration with architecture design ensuring robust, compliant, and automated cloud operations aligned with business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Architecture & Design
- Design multi-cloud architectures leveraging Azure and AWS for redundancy and flexibility.
- Architect high-availability, fault-tolerant, and DR-ready environments for critical workloads.
- Create reference architectures, HLD/LLD documents, and design blueprints for projects.
- Plan and execute cloud migrations, application modernization, and hybrid integrations.
- Define and enforce governance, tagging, and cost-management frameworks.
Cloud Administration & Operations
- Manage daily cloud operations VMs, networking, load balancers, storage, and databases.
- Administer IAM, roles, policies, and key management systems (KMS).
- Implement and manage VPNs, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, and hybrid connectivity.
- Oversee monitoring, patching, and performance tuning using Azure Monitor and AWS CloudWatch.
- Execute backup and DR drills via Azure Site Recovery / AWS Backup.
Security & Compliance
- Implement cloud security baselines (CIS, NIST, ISO).
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and enforce patch/hotfix cycles.
- Integrate Azure Defender, Security Center, and AWS GuardDuty for continuous compliance.
- Collaborate with InfoSec for identity protection, MFA, and least-privilege models.
Automation & DevOps Integration
- Automate provisioning with Terraform, ARM, or CloudFormation templates.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps / AWS CodePipeline.
- Develop scripts (PowerShell / Python / Bash) for configuration automation and audits.
- Lead Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) adoption and GitOps practices.
Cost & Performance Optimization
- Track and optimize monthly spend via Azure Cost Management / AWS Cost Explorer.
- Design auto-scaling, right-sizing, and reserved instance strategies.
- Conduct regular capacity and performance reviews with application teams.
Collaboration & Governance
- Partner with application, database, and network teams for end-to-end solutions.
- Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead cloud technical reviews and training sessions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 712 years of total IT experience, with at least 5 years in Azure & AWS cloud environments.
- Proficiency in Azure: VMs, VNets, NSGs, Azure AD, Storage Accounts, Automation, Defender.
- Proficiency in AWS: EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront, CloudFormation, CloudWatch.
- Strong skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python, Terraform, and IaC automation.
- Knowledge of Windows/Linux administration, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and hybrid setups.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate/Professional
- Terraform Associate (HashiCorp)
- ITIL Foundation / CompTIA Cloud+
Soft Skills:
- Strong documentation and communication abilities.
- Analytical and detail-oriented with a solution-driven mindset.
- Leadership skills with experience mentoring or guiding junior engineers.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight timelines.
Key Deliverables:
- Scalable, cost-optimized, and secure multi-cloud infrastructure.
- Documented architecture diagrams and deployment blueprints.
- 99.9% uptime with proactive monitoring and automation.
- Regular reporting on cost, performance, and compliance metrics.
