Job Description
We are looking for a Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs that power our AI/ML applications, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Agentic AI, fine-tuned LLMs, and advanced search solutions. This role is critical to enabling seamless integration of AI services into our cloud-based platform and providing reliable APIs and MCP interfaces for internal and external consumers.
Key Responsibilities:
- API & Service Development:
- Design and implement RESTful/GraphQL APIs to expose AI/ML models and search services.
- Develop microservices that handle model inference, retrieval, and orchestration.
- Integration with AI Components:
- Connect backend services to vector databases, knowledge graphs, and advanced search (Azure AI Search, Elasticsearch).
- Integrate model endpoints from Azure OpenAI, fine-tuned models, or other cloud AI services.
- Scalability & Reliability:
- Implement caching, load balancing, and failover strategies for high-performance AI workloads.
- Ensure APIs meet SLAs for latency and throughput.
- Cloud Deployment:
- Containerize services (Docker) and deploy in Kubernetes or serverless environments on Azure/AWS/GCP.
- Work with DevOps/MLOps engineers to automate CI/CD pipelines.
- Security & Compliance:
- Implement authentication/authorization (OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys).
- Ensure secure handling of PII and compliance with data security standards.
- Documentation & Monitoring:
- Document API endpoints and usage (OpenAPI/Swagger).
- Integrate logging, tracing, and monitoring for observability (Prometheus, App Insights).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in backend frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Django or other python frameworks).
- Strong understanding of REST, GraphQL, and gRPC.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) .
- Familiar with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of databases: SQL, NoSQL, vector stores (Pinecone, Milvus, Azure Cosmos DB).
- Understanding of message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ) for async processing.
- AI/ML Awareness:
- Exposure to LLM-based applications (RAG pipelines, semantic search).
- Comfortable integrating with ML endpoints and APIs.
- Soft Skills:
- Agile/Scrum team experience.
- Strong collaboration with Data Scientists, MLOps, and Product Owners.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar model-serving orchestration frameworks.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for AI model deployments.
- Familiarity with API Gateway & rate-limiting policies.
- Understanding of knowledge graphs and metadata-driven search.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of backend development experience, with at least 12 years working on AI/ML or data-intensive applications.
