Job Description


The Director Nephrology will provide leadership and clinical expertise in the management of patients with kidney-related disorders, dialysis services, and renal transplantation. The role involves ensuring the highest standards of patient care, guiding the nephrology team, developing departmental strategies, and supporting the hospitals mission of excellence in healthcare delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Excellence
    • Provide specialized care for patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases, hypertension, and related disorders.
    • Oversee dialysis services (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis) and ensure quality treatment outcomes.
    • Manage and lead renal transplant programs, including pre- and post-transplant care.
    • Perform and supervise relevant nephrology procedures (renal biopsy, dialysis catheter insertion, etc.).
  • Leadership & Departmental Management
    • Lead the Nephrology Department and ensure alignment with hospital goals.
    • Develop departmental policies, clinical protocols, and care pathways.
    • Mentor, supervise, and evaluate consultants, residents, and nursing staff.
  • Patient Care & Engagement
    • Ensure a patient-centric approach with empathy, compassion, and ethical practice.
    • Counsel patients and families regarding treatment options, prognosis, and preventive care.
  • Research & Academics
    • Promote clinical research, academic activities, and publications in nephrology.
    • Conduct CME sessions, seminars, and workshops for knowledge sharing and training.
  • Quality & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with NABH/JCI standards, regulatory guidelines, and hospital policies.
    • Monitor clinical outcomes, safety protocols, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Collaboration
    • Work with multidisciplinary teams including urology, cardiology, critical care, and endocrinology.
    • Coordinate with administration for infrastructure, resource planning, and patient services.
