Role Summary
The Area Head will be responsible for driving Motor Insurance business through the Agency Channel within the assigned geography. The role requires leading a team of Agency Managers/Branch Managers, ensuring growth in agent network, achieving premium and policy issuance targets, maintaining persistency, and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Growth & Sales Management
- Achieve monthly/quarterly/yearly targets for motor insurance premium and policy issuance.
- Drive cross-selling and upselling of other General Insurance products.
- Monitor sales productivity across branches/territories and implement corrective actions.
2. Team Leadership
- Manage and lead a team of Agency Sales Managers / Unit Managers.
- Set goals, track performance, and ensure achievement of business objectives.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to team members.
3. Channel Development (Agency Network)
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-quality insurance agents (PoSP/Advisors).
- Improve agent activation, retention, and productivity.
- Ensure a steady pipeline of new agency partners to expand market penetration.
4. Training & Development
- Organize regular training sessions for team members and agents on motor insurance products, processes, and compliance.
- Build capabilities to improve customer handling, lead conversion, and claim servicing support.
5. Customer Relationship Management
- Ensure customer satisfaction through timely policy issuance, servicing, and claim support.
- Drive persistency and renewal collection.
- Resolve escalated issues from customers/agents in a professional and timely manner.
6. Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to IRDAI regulations and company policies across all activities.
- Maintain high standards of documentation, reporting, and audit readiness.
- Promote ethical selling and business practices.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- Achieving area-level premium and policy issuance targets.
- Active agent ratio and growth in agency network.
- Productivity per agent and per Agency Manager.
- Persistency/renewal ratios.
- Market share growth in assigned geography.
- Employee engagement and retention within the team.
- Compliance and zero regulatory violations.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Education: Graduate/Postgraduate (MBA preferred).
- Experience: 28 years in General Insurance sales (at least 35 years in leadership role, preferably in Agency/PoSP channel, with strong exposure to Motor Insurance).
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets.
- In-depth knowledge of Motor Insurance products and distribution channels.
- Strong market networking and business development ability.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple branches and large field sales teams.
