Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Modeler with strong expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling. The ideal candidate will be proficient in data modeling tools like ERwin, ER/Studio, or similar, with a deep understanding of different database modeling techniques, including Star, Snowflake, and 3NF. This role requires advanced SQL skills, experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), and the ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement robust data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) to support data-driven business needs.
- Utilize industry-standard data modeling tools such as ERwin, ER/Studio, or similar to create and maintain data models.
- Develop and manage Star, Snowflake, and 3NF data models for business intelligence, data warehousing, and transactional systems.
- Write advanced SQL queries to manipulate and analyze large datasets, ensuring data integrity and efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, architects, analysts, and business stakeholders, to gather requirements and translate them into scalable data models.
- Participate in cloud data platform initiatives, working with Azure, AWS, or GCP environments to optimize data storage and access.
- Provide guidance on Databricks and Snowflake implementation and best practices, if applicable.
- Maintain a high level of documentation for all data models and ensure compliance with best practices in data management and governance.
- Support ongoing data quality and performance tuning efforts, ensuring efficient data flow and storage.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in data modeling, with a strong understanding of conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling.
- Expertise in ERwin, ER/Studio, or other similar data modeling tools.
- Solid understanding of Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, and 3NF (Third Normal Form) modeling techniques.
- Advanced SQL skills for querying large, complex datasets and creating optimized database queries.
- Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and present to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with Databricks and Snowflake is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
