Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Staff Software Engineer with a strong background in data-intensive applications and the Java ecosystem to be a key contributor to our team. In this role, you will focus on solving moderately complex issues and contribute to the team's success by consistently delivering solutions to clearly scoped problems. You will work with a modern technology stack, including Java, Spring Boot, Apache Kafka, and Debezium, to build a cutting-edge product that solves our customers' most challenging data problems.
This role will be based in our India office in Gurgaon and offers a hybrid working model.
The ideal candidate for this role will have
- 8+ years of commercial software development experience in backend or distributed systems
- Deep expertise with at least one JVM language such as Java, and extensive experience with its common patterns and frameworks, preferably the Spring ecosystem
- Proven experience with data streaming systems such as Apache Kafka and Change Data Capture (CDC) tools like Debezium
- Strong experience with relational data modeling, SQL (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, etc.), and at least one document database (e.g., MongoDB)
- A strong foundation in core technical skills, consistently applying established design patterns and coding standards to produce well-structured artifacts with excellent attention to detail
- Experience providing guidance to junior teammates, introducing them to coding best practices and basic architectural principles
- A good understanding of algorithms, data structures, and their time and space complexity
- Curiosity, a positive attitude, and a drive to continue learning
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Position Expectations
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement
- Take ownership of the design and implementation of robust, scalable features for our data migration engine and suite of tools
- Contribute to the teams success through consistent, high-quality delivery on clearly scoped technical problems
- Drive the architectural vision and long-term technical roadmap for the Data Migration product suite, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, and performant
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers and other stakeholders to define product features and translate business requirements into robust technical designs
- Lead the design and implementation of complex, mission-critical components of our data streaming and migration platform
- Champion and enforce engineering best practices through design reviews, code reviews, and by setting a high standard for quality and operational excellence
