Job Description
- ResponsibilitiesAdminister, configure, and maintain the Red Hat Satellite Server for managing RHEL based systems and system provisioning
- Implement and manage patching processes for Linux systems via Red Hat Satellite, ensuring systems are up to date and compliant with security standards
- Utilize Red Hat Satellites provisioning tools (eg, kickstart, DNS configuration) to deploy and automate system installations and updates across a large number of servers
- Leverage Satellite Content Views and Repositories to manage package and software configurations, ensuring consistency across all environments
- Ensure the security of the systems through configuration management tools and by enforcing security policies and compliance standards
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to Red Hat Satellite and Linux based environments, including server and client side problems, network issues, and software inconsistencies
- Monitor the performance, health, and availability of the Red Hat Satellite Server and its associated systems
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures for Red Hat Satellite servers and client systems
- Integrate Red Hat Satellite with external systems like Ansible, LDAP, Active Directory, and other third party tools for automated patching and other system administration tasks
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and best practices
- Work closely with Infrastructure and Security teams to ensure alignment with operational processes and business objectives
- Respond to and resolve incidents, troubleshooting system issues efficiently and escalating when necessary
- Mandatory Skills3 to 5 years of experience as a Linux Administrator, with a strong focus on Red Hat Satellite
- Deep experience with Red Hat Satellite 6
- x and understanding of its architecture, including Content Views, Provisioning, and Repositories
- Strong proficiency in Red Hat Linux (RHEL) administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Experience with system patching and updates using Red Hat Satellite and yum
- Hands on experience with system provisioning tools like Kickstart and Red Hat Satellite CLI
- Strong knowledge of Linux system administration, including file systems, process management, storage, and networking
- Familiarity with Ansible, Puppet, or other configuration management tools for automation
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix Shell Scripting for system automation
- Experience with security management and hardening of RHEL systems
- Knowledge of Virtualization tools like KVM for managing virtual environments
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or similar tools
- Strong effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non technical teams
- Preferred SkillsExperience with backup and recovery procedures for critical Linux systems
- Knowledge in areas like Operating Systems, Virtualization, Cybersecurity, Disaster Recovery
