Job Title: Python Engineer Databricks Automation & Unity Catalog Migration
Role Overview:
Seeking a skilled Python Engineer to collaborate with Databricks Data Engineers by developing automated, scalable solutions for Unity Catalog migration and cloud data platform operations. The role centers on heavy Python coding, REST API integration, and automation testing frameworks to ensure robust data governance and migration workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and optimize Python scripts to automate Databricks tasks including Unity Catalog migration workflows.
Design and implement REST API integrations with Databricks for managing workspaces, jobs, tables, permissions, and metadata.
Build automated testing and validation pipelines leveraging frameworks like Great Expectations to ensure data quality and migration correctness.
Utilize Databricks SDK and CLI tools to orchestrate and monitor batch and streaming workloads.
Support refactoring of existing notebooks and jobs for Unity Catalog compatibility with automation-driven processes.
Collaborate closely with data engineers and governance teams to design scalable, secure, and testable migration components.
Document code, APIs, and automation workflows for knowledge sharing and operational readiness.

Required Skills & Experience:
Strong Python programming expertise, including REST API programming and SDK/library integrations.
Hands-on experience with Databricks platform, familiar with Databricks SDK, CLI, and REST APIs.
Working knowledge of data validation and automation testing frameworks such as Great Expectations or equivalent.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in agile, collaborative environments.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and devops-oriented development practices preferred.
