Job Description
Key responsibilities
- Validate ETL mappings, transformations, and data flows endtoend across source, staging, and target systems.
- Design and execute test cases for functional, regression, data integrity, and reconciliation testing.
- Write and run complex SQL queries to verify data volumes, joins, aggregations, NULLs, duplicates, and referential integrity.
- Create test data, compare extracts, and verify incremental loads and historical data (CDC) scenarios.
- Log, triage, and follow up on data defects with engineering and data owners; verify fixes and retest.
- Support automation of repetitive validation checks using scripts (Shell/Python) or SQL automation where possible.
- Participate in release activities, UAT, and provide clear test evidence and data validation artifacts.
Required skills & experience
- Strong handson experience in ETL/data validation and SQL (joins, window functions, groupings, subqueries, CTEs).
- Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL) and data warehousing concepts.
- Solid test design skills: test cases, test data, defect reporting (JIRA or similar).
- Good analytical and problemsolving skills with attention to data accuracy and edge cases.
Good to have
- Scripting knowledge (Shell, Python) to automate validation steps or data prep.
- Familiarity with ETL tools (Informatica, Talend, SSIS) or cloud ETL (AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory).
- Exposure to automation testing frameworks or SQL-based testing tools.
