DB2 Azure Migration SME @ Techwave Consulting

Job Description

• Lead end-to-end data migration projects, ensuring seamless transition to Azure with minimal disruption.
• Migration and HADR experience specifically on DB2 and SAP environments from on-prem to Azure. Strong hands-on expertise in RHEL + DB2
• Migrate and support DB2 database systems ensuring seamless data transfer
• Experience with DB2 and SAP migration to Azure, with tools like Azure Site Recovery, Azure Database Migration Service, SWPM, and Azure Migrate
• Assess existing on-premises or cloud data landscapes and develop migration strategies aligned with business goals.
• Migrate structured and unstructured data from DB2 and other data sources to Azure.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including DBAs, data engineers, cloud architects, and security teams , to ensure a successful migration.
• Perform data validation and reconciliation post-migration to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Address performance bottlenecks and implement best practices for Azure database performance tuning .
• Provide technical expertise on Azure Data Governance, security best practices, and compliance frameworks .
• Document migration strategies, challenges, and solutions for knowledge sharing and future scalability.
• Stay up to date with the latest Azure data technologies and recommend improvements for cloud data architectures .

• Bachelor s/Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or cloud data solutions, with at least 3+ years focused on Azure DB2 data migration .
• Strong understanding of database architectures, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning .
• Experience with Azure Migrate, Data Migration Assistant (DMA), and DB2 third-party data migration tools .
• Solid understanding of cloud networking, hybrid data connectivity, and security best practices .
• Familiarity with data governance, GDPR, HIPAA, and other compliance standards .
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot migration challenges and ensure business continuity.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to guide and mentor teams.
