Job Description
- **Job Description:** As an Accountant at Avalara, you will play a crucial role in handling various financial tasks to ensure accurate financial data and compliance with US GAAP and Avalara accounting policies. Your responsibilities will include reconciling accounts, preparing journal entries and reports, researching variances, performing account analysis, maintaining accounting system data, and communicating effectively with other teams. You are expected to work during EMEA hours, specifically from 2 pm to 11 pm IST, and be available as needed, all 5 working days from the office. **Key Responsibilities:** - Contribute to the month-end close process by preparing accurate financial data in compliance with US GAAP and Avalara accounting policies. - Reconcile accounts, summarize activity, and resolve reconciling differences. - Perform accounting and control procedures related to the client Trust. - Review financial statement fluctuations and prepare detailed supporting schedules. - Prepare audit documentation and analyses as requested. - Assist in field inquiries by researching and interpreting data. - Record monthly accrual entries in partnership with the business. - Collaborate with global teams to develop accounting processes for a disciplined financial statement close. - Analyze systems and policies for improvements and make recommendations. - Execute ad-hoc accounting projects as directed. **Qualifications Required:** - Background from the SaaS industry. - Minimum 4 years of intermediate accounting experience. - Experience in accounting under US GAAP. - Familiarity with internal controls and SOX compliance. - Experience in intercompany accounting for foreign and domestic entities. - Proficiency in NetSuite (preferred) or other large ERP systems like Oracle or SAP. - Strong analytical skills in Microsoft Excel. - Ability to take ownership of individual projects, analyses, or processes. - Build working relationships with various company partners. - Commitment to process improvement and streamlining. - Contribution to the success of the company. **(Additional Company Details:)** Avalara is a company that strongly supports diversity, equity, and inclusion, integrating these values into its business practices and organizational culture.
