The SDO Safety Designer has the following main responsibilities:
Deliver the regulatory and non-regulatory safety requirements, and the functional safety requirements (per ISO26262), for propulsion system electronic controls design and development
Support propulsion program execution by participation in supplier requirements review, Safety Release reviews, development and validation activities, and issue resolution
As required, perform detailed requirements development for new features and/or newly integrated electronic controls functionality

In more detail, the propulsion system functional safety engineer is responsible for:
Supporting the creation and maintenance of the Safety Plan of the item development
Creating, reviewing and maintaining the Item definition
Performing the Impact Analysis and assessing the impact on the ISO 26262 work products of any change occurring to the item during the development
Creating, reviewing and maintaining the Hazard Analysis & Risk Assessment
Supporting the creation and the evaluation of Controllability metrics and a Controllability preassessment report
Creating, reviewing and maintaining the Functional Safety Concept
Creating, reviewing and maintaining the Technical Safety Requirements specifications and the Technical Safety Concept
Supporting the allocation of the Technical Safety Requirements to HW and SW elements
Supporting the creation and the updates of the System Architecture of the item
Supporting the creation and maintenance of the Development Interface Agreement with all the nominated suppliers of the elements of the item
Supporting the creation and the evaluation of the System Safety Analyses (FTA, FMEA, DFA) of the item
Supporting the planning of Safety Verification & Validation activities at different integration levels
Supporting the creation of test cases, their execution and evaluation of the results
Identifying all the Safety Requirements for Production, Operation, Service and Decommissioning of the vehicle and supporting the Production Process Assessment and the creation and the updates of the vehicle manuals for User/Owners and Service and Repair
Creating, reviewing and maintaining the Safety Case of the item
Supporting the Safety Assessment of the item and of the whole vehicle
Main organizational interactions:
SDO designers, SDO tech fellows, functional and control designers and managers, validation and calibration teams, propulsion project teams
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in automotive engineering
