Director, Engineering (QA & Automation)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Director, Engineering to join our Universal DDI team in Bangalore, India, reporting to the senior director of Software Engineering. In this pivotal role, you will lead quality and automation strategies that drive innovation and ensure the scalable, reliable, and efficient delivery of high-quality software across the engineering lifecycle.
Be a Contributor What You ll Do
  • Define and execute a comprehensive QA strategy for SaaS and hybrid delivery
  • Champion a culture of quality across Engineering, Product, and Operations
  • Lead development and scaling of test automation across UI, API, and infrastructure
  • Integrate automated quality gates into CI/CD pipelines for safe, fast releases
  • Implement proactive controls and observability to maintain near-zero change fail rate
  • Collaborate with SRE/DevOps to ensure post-deployment monitoring and rollback safety
  • Apply DNS, DHCP, and IPAM expertise to validate product behavior and edge cases
  • Partner with Product managers and architects to ensure domain-specific quality coverage
  • Define, track, and report KPIs, including coverage, defect escape, change fail, and release confidence
  • Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing QA/automation team with continuous innovation
Be Prepared What You Bring
  • Bachelor s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering required; master s degree preferred.
  • 20+ years of experience in software quality assurance, including 5 8 years in leadership roles, preferably in cloud-native SaaS environments
  • Proven track record of maintaining zero change fail rate in production deployments through robust quality strategies and automation
  • Deep expertise in QA methodologies, tools, and processes across the full software development lifecycle
  • Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks, such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Cypress, and REST Assured
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI and integrating automated quality gates
  • Familiarity with observability platforms, including Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana to monitor and validate system health and performance
  • Solid understanding of DNS, DHCP, and IPAM protocols, general networking concepts, and Unix/Linux environments
  • Experience working in Agile development environments, with a history of shipping high-quality software at scale
  • Exposure to AWS services, such as EC2, VPC, ELB, S3, and CloudFormation is a strong plus
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a strong focus on results and continuous improvement
