Job Description
anAbout the Role:
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Chief Sub-Editor English News to join our editorial team in Noida. The ideal candidate will have a strong news sense, a command over language, and proven expertise in digital journalism. This is an on-site role that requires editorial leadership, SEO knowledge, and the ability to work in a fast-paced newsroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, write, and assign news articles based on the editorial calendar and breaking developments.
- Spot emerging angles and narratives within trending news topics and convert them into high-performing stories.
- Write compelling, descriptive feature copies and fast-breaking news items under tight deadlines.
- Maintain a sharp understanding of national and international current affairs, politics, and other key domains.
- Ensure content is SEO-compliant with well-researched keywords, cluster writing strategy, and authoritative coverage.
- Monitor content performance using tools like Google Analytics and adapt strategies to maximize reach and engagement.
- Guide and collaborate with the editorial team to maintain quality, speed, and consistency across the desk.
- Be available for rotational shifts, including weekend duties, as part of a 24x7 news operation.
- Coordinate with the video and multimedia teams for visual storytellingknowledge of video scripting/treatment is a plus.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience working in a English news website or digital-first newsroom.
- Strong editing, rewriting, and headline-writing skills.
- Excellent news judgment and understanding of what drives engagement in a digital ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience with content management systems (CMS) and basic knowledge of analytics and SEO tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative editorial team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in keyword research, topic clustering, and long-form content planning.
- Awareness of video formats and visual news packaging is an added advantage.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or related fields
