Role overview
Manager - Legal & Compliance will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support, managing litigation, drafting and reviewing contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting business teams on legal matters. This is a strategic role requiring a mix of strong legal expertise, business acumen, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment. The selected candidate will be an integral part of the group legal team, supporting the legal and compliance functions across our diversified business verticals.
Key responsibilities
1. Litigation & dispute resolution
- Manage and coordinate end-to-end litigation across various jurisdictions, including: Negotiable Instruments Act cases (cheque bounce matters), consumer cases and disputes, arbitration (including MSMED arbitration/mediation), NCLT matters (corporate and insolvency proceedings), labour and employment disputes, writ petitions before high courts, civil suits and injunction matters, trademark infringement and IP enforcement cases, and criminal matters, including FIRs and counterfeiting cases.
- Liaise with external counsel, monitor case progress, draft pleadings and affidavits when required, and prepare periodic litigation MIS reports for management.
2. Contract drafting, review & negotiation
- Draft, vet, and negotiate a wide range of commercial and non-commercial agreements, including but not limited to: non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), service agreements, distributor/dealership agreements, consultancy and professional services agreements, supply and trading contracts, and commercial lease deeds.
- Ensure contracts are legally sound, risk-mitigated, and aligned with business objectives.
- Support internal stakeholders with legal interpretations, structuring commercial arrangements, and negotiations.
3. Regulatory compliance & governance
- Support the Group compliance framework by ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Assist in trademark portfolio management and basic IP protection activities.
- Maintain proper documentation, record-keeping, and legal databases in line with governance standards.
4. Legal MIS & technology enablement
- Prepare accurate and timely MIS reports on litigation, contracts, compliance status, and legal risks for group leadership.
- Continuously seek opportunities to digitize and streamline legal workflows for improved efficiency.
Qualifications
- LL.M. in corporate law / business law from a recognized university.
- Additional diploma or PG diploma in intellectual property rights (IPR) is preferable but not mandatory.
Experience & technical skills
- 3 to 6 years of post-qualification experience in litigation, contracts, and corporate legal functions.
- Proven track record in handling diverse litigation portfolios.
- Strong contract drafting skills across a variety of business arrangements.
- Experience in MIS reporting, legal research, and use of digital legal tools and databases.
- Prior experience with tier-1 or tier-2 corporates or renowned brands preferred.
