Job Description
Role & responsibilities
A Solar Civil Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing the civil infrastructure for solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, covering aspects such as site layout, grading, drainage, and foundation works, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Core Responsibilities
Site Layout & Grading: Design and optimize the layout of solar PV modules, including roads, walkways, and water drainage systems for effective land utilization and operational efficiency.
Structural & Foundation Design: Develop module mounting structure designs and determine suitable foundations for modules, inverters, transformers, and related equipment based on soil tests and site conditions.
Technical Drawings & Reporting: Prepare civil and structural design drawings using AutoCAD and other software, and compile detailed structural design reports documenting materials, specifications, and assumptions.
Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, field technicians, and procurement teams for the smooth execution and commissioning of solar projects.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure designs adhere to government and industry standards, maintain safety at the project site, and meet environmental requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree (B.Tech/B.E.) or Diploma in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
Software Proficiency: Expertise in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and design modeling tools such as Staddpro and Google SketchUp.
Experience: Minimum 1-4 years designing solar PV systems, preferably experience handling projects of at least 25 MW independently.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of solar energy fundamentals, structural load analysis, and site feasibility assessment.
Other Skills: Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management abilities.
Typical Job Tasks
Conduct site surveys for shadow and capacity analysis.
Design module mounting and develop fabrication drawings.
Prepare bills of materials (BOMs) and cost estimates.
Produce and document structural design reports.
Support technical specifications and tender documentation.
This role is vital for ensuring the durability, safety, and optimal performance of solar power installations, integrating civil engineering best practices with renewable energy technology.

1. Only from B. E Gradates (EEE/ ECE) - Solar Experience.
Experience 1 - 4 years of experience.
