Job Description
Role & responsibilities
- Prepare a wide variety of bakery items such as breads, cakes, cookies, pastries, and desserts.
- Create high-end confectionery products, including chocolates, sugar work, and specialty desserts.
- Design and decorate cakes and desserts to a high professional standard.
- Monitor ingredient stock and place orders as needed to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the bakery and prep areas in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Experiment with new recipes and contribute to seasonal and special event menus.
- Train and supervise junior kitchen staff and pastry assistants when needed.
- Monitor baking times and oven temperatures to ensure product consistency and quality.
- Coordinate with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure timely and efficient service.
- Maintain accurate production records and minimize food wastage.
Preferred candidate profile
- Proven experience as a Bakery and/or Confectionery Chef
- Culinary degree or certification in Bakery & Confectionery (preferred but not mandatory).
- In-depth knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, equipment, and food safety standards.
- Artistic flair for dessert presentation and decoration.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and during high-demand periods.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Team player with a positive attitude and a passion for food.
