Job Description
An engineering supervisor manages engineering teams to oversee project planning, execution, and completion, ensuring adherence to deadlines, budget, and quality standards through technical guidance, resource management, and collaboration with cross-functional departments. Key responsibilities include mentoring engineers, providing strategic input, managing risk, and facilitating training to develop staff and improve overall engineering operations and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Team & Project Management:
Oversee and coordinate the work of engineering teams, assign tasks based on skill, and provide technical guidance and direction on projects.
Project Oversight:
Monitor project progress, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure successful, on-time, and within-budget completion of projects.
Technical Expertise:
Provide technical expertise, evaluate existing processes, and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in engineering solutions and procedures.
Quality & Compliance:
Ensure projects meet quality standards, comply with relevant safety and regulatory guidelines, and resolve technical issues as they arise.
Staff Development:
Train, coach, and mentor engineers and technicians, evaluate their performance, and create programs to foster their growth and productivity.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with other departments (e.g., sales, production, management) and external vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
Reporting & Planning:
Prepare reports on engineering activities, contribute to strategic planning and budgetary needs, and advise on operational feasibility.
Typical Duties
Participate in meetings, provide status updates, and maintain detailed project documentation.
Conduct feasibility studies and technical analysis for new projects and investments.
Supervise the installation and initial startup of new engineering equipment.
Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and agencies.
Resolve project complaints and implement corrective actions.
