Independently perform desktop risk assessments of various complex / high hazard commercial and industrial occupancies from a property insurance loss prevention perspective in support of global Account Engineers and Underwriters. This would include all occupancies within the Manufacturing and Non - Manufacturing pillars including but not limited to Service Risk, Light, Medium and Complex Manufacturing plants and Warehouses.

He/She should also be able to mentor the team in developing their risk engineering capabilities by providing trainings, technical sessions and occupancy know - how. The initial risk assessments will be completed by conducting an analysis of submission documents including engineering report from various sources. The candidate must be able to interpret these reports and be able to translate the information into risk quality ratings and fire /machinery breakdown, Nat Cat loss estimates following company guidelines and utilizing available tools and utilities. An analysis of key natural perils will also need to be provided for each of the reviewed locations on the schedule of values.

Specific job responsibilities for desktop reviews would include the following:

  • Independently manage full Account Review of various complex, integrated occupancies including all the essential elements for location assessment as per AIG Engineering guidelines, focusing on major findings & Loss Estimates from LDRs and providing an overall account analysis & Rating to UW for Risk Selection.
  • Provide technical expertise to train new staff. Lead and conduct knowledge sharing sessions regularly around complex industrial processes, hazards and risk assessment parameters.
  • Perform quality control / peer reviews on work completed by staff engineers. Ensure loss estimates and Risk quality ratings are consistently applied on assigned accounts, by following established AIG rules and guidelines.

Pre - requisites -

  • A degreed engineer ( B.Tech, B.E. as minimum ), preferably within one of the following Engineering disciplines (Chemical, Electrical, Civil or Mechanical).
  • The candidate ideally should have at least 6 years of experience in Field / Account Engineering / Industrial Safety/ Loss prevention Engineering/ fire protection experience preferably related to the property insurance industry.
  • Strong technical acumen and business knowledge
  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills. Capable of presenting complex technical information to a non - technical audience
  • Ability to work with limited direct supervision.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communications skills (both verbal and written)
  • Candidate should be organized, resourceful, proactive, self - motivated and accountable.
  • He/She should possess the ability to prioritize their own work in order to meet set deadlines and agreed targets.
