Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer with a strong command of SQL and a proven track record in the healthcare domain which is an added advantage. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and reports that support business decisions, regulatory reporting, and operational performance. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, understanding complex healthcare datasets (e.g., EHR/EMR systems, claims, patient data), and delivering insight-driven visualizations using Power BI and DAX.Key Responsibilities
Power BI Development & Visualization
- Design, develop, and publish interactive and insightful dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Power BI.
- Utilize DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) to create complex calculated measures, KPIs, and calculated columns.
- Customize visualizations using themes, filters, drill-downs, bookmarks, tooltips, and slicers.
- Implement row-level security (RLS) and access controls on data reports.
Data Management & SQL Development
- Develop optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, and views for data extraction, transformation, and reporting purposes.
- Handle data wrangling and transformation using Power Query (M language) and SQL.
- Design and maintain data models (star/snowflake schemas) and ensure accuracy and integrity across reports.
Healthcare Data Analysis
- Understand healthcare data standards (e.g., ICD-10, CPT, HL7, FHIR, etc.) and work with clinical, operational, and financial data.
- Analyze and interpret data from EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech) and claims, billing, or population health systems.
- Collaborate with business analysts and healthcare stakeholders to capture data needs and translate them into technical solutions.
Performance Optimization & Governance
- Ensure data visualizations are optimized for performance, responsiveness, and scalability.
- Follow best practices in data governance, privacy (HIPAA), and security when dealing with sensitive patient or provider data.
- Perform data validation, QA, and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and consistency of reporting data.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with business users, data scientists, product owners, and data engineers to gather requirements and deliver BI solutions.
- Provide training and support to users for Power BI self-service analytics.
- Translate business problems into actionable insights using storytelling and data visualizations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or related field.
- 6-7 years of total experience, and, strong SQL skills.
- Hands-on experience building end-to-end BI solutions from data source integration to dashboard delivery.
- Proficient in SQL Server, T-SQL, and data warehousing concepts.
- Strong knowledge of Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and DAX.
- Familiarity with Power Query (M language) and custom visual development.
- Experience working with large datasets in a healthcare setting.
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance, PHI handling, and other healthcare regulatory frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in healthcare analytics, clinical decision support, or population health management.
- Knowledge of Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Synapse, SQL Database) or other cloud BI platforms.
- Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, Informatica, or Talend.
- Exposure to machine learning models or predictive analytics is a plus.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like JIRA or Azure DevOps.
- Supply chain experience and logistics experience will be plus.
