Job Description

Role Overview

The Medical Representative (MR) will be responsible for building strong relationships with dentists, doctors, and chemists, promoting the companys oral care products, driving prescription generation, and ensuring product availability at key retail points. The MR plays a critical role in demand generation, distribution support, and achieving monthly sales targets within the assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Doctor & Dentist Engagement
    • Meet dentists/doctors as per defined call frequency to promote company products.
    • Detail product benefits, usage, and scientific evidence to encourage prescription/recommendation.
  2. Retail/Pharmacy Activation
    • Ensure product availability at chemists/pharmacies linked to prescribing doctors.
    • Conduct product visibility activities like point-of-sale displays and sampling.
    • Handle stockist relationships and ensure timely order bookings and replenishments.
  3. Sales & Target Achievement
    • Achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets for the assigned territory.
    • Monitor prescription flow and track secondary sales from stockists to retailers.
    • Submit daily call reports, doctor coverage reports, and competitor insights.
  4. Compliance & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate doctor/chemist lists, call plans, and visit frequency.
    • Adhere to company policies, ethical practices, and regulatory requirements.
    • Submit timely reports to ASM/RSM with field updates and market insights.

Key Requirements

  • Education:
    • Graduate in Science, Pharmacy, or related field (B.Sc., B.Pharm preferred).
  • Experience:
    • 12 years for entry-level, or 25 years for experienced MRs (preferably in dental/OTC/healthcare).
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
    • Good understanding of the doctor-chemist-stockist network.
    • Ability to achieve sales targets & manage time effectively.
    • Basic computer literacy (MS Office, CRM apps).
  • Other Attributes:
    • Self-motivated, persuasive, and result-oriented.
    • Willingness to travel extensively within assigned territory.
    • Ability to organize and conduct scientific/educational events.
