Job Description
Role Overview
As a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer, you will own the foundational AWS infrastructure that
powers all customerfacing and internal services. Youll drive IaC, CI/CD, observability,
security hardening, and cost optimization. You will work with AWS (required) and be able to
integrate and explore other cloud platforms, ensuring secure, efficient, and scalable
platform architecture. This role requires strong experience in platform engineering best
practices, including automation, orchestration, networking, security, and governance.
You will collaborate closely with Data Scientists and AI/ML Engineers to enable CI/CD
software delivery, alongside real-time, batch, and event-driven data pipelines that drive AI
and business intelligence initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain Terraform modules (or Pulumi/CDK) for multiaccount AWS landing
zones, networking, and application stacks.
Design endtoend CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions or AWS CodePipeline for
containerized and serverless workloads (ECS, EKS, Lambda).
Implement leastprivilege IAM, GuardDuty/Security Hub baselines, automated
patching, and encryption by default.
Set up CloudWatch distributed tracing, and actionable alerting; establish SLOs with
product teams.
Track and forecast spend with AWS Cost Explorer dashboards and champion efficiency
initiatives.
Build internal tools (Python/Go), selfservice templates, and golden AMIs to accelerate
developer velocity.
Prototype workload portability with GKE/AKS or cloudagnostic backups when justified.
Qualifications
Professional Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in building and operating production infrastructure on
AWS (required).
- Experience working in multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP preferred).
- Proven expertise in IaC pipeline development, automation, and
orchestration.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure, using GitHub
Actions, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, AWS
CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
- Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration (Docker,
Kubernetes, ECS, EKS) for data workloads.
- Deep knowledge of VPC design, IAM, networking (Transit Gateway,
PrivateLink)
- Proficient in at least one programming language (Python, Go, or TypeScript).
- Experience wiring up metrics, logs, and traces (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus,
Grafana).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes operators, Helm, and GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux) is a
plus.
- Exposure to GCP or Azure services (GKE, Cloud Build, AKS, Azure DevOps)
desirable but not required.
Data Management:
- Experience with cloud-native data services (AWS Glue, Redshift, Athena,
DynamoDB, S3, EMR, Kinesis).
- Some knowledge of data governance, cataloging, and lineage tracking using
tools like AWS Glue Data Catalog, Apache Atlas, and Collibra.
Governance & Security:
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and enterprise
data security best practices.
- Implementation of RBAC, encryption, and auditing mechanisms for secure
data access.
Education:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
