Job Description
- As an enthusiastic, entry-level IoT Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work under the mentorship of senior engineers to learn how to design, build, and deploy industrial IoT solutions. This role involves assisting in developing edge-side IoT solutions, supporting senior engineers in extracting data from PLCs and controllers, implementing processing logic at the edge, and ensuring reliable data transmission to cloud or on-prem repositories. Additionally, you will gain hands-on experience with IIoT protocols such as MQTT, Modbus, and OPC UA, as well as with connectivity tools like Kepware. Collaboration is a key aspect of this role, as you will be partnering with process-industry and manufacturing teams to understand use cases and requirements. You will also have the opportunity to configure and test IoT platforms like PTC ThingWorx, Siemens MindSphere, and HiveMQ. Adhering to software engineering best practices, following coding standards, participating in peer code reviews, and assisting in basic testing and documentation are essential responsibilities. To qualify for this role, you should hold a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics, computer science, or a related field. Experience gained through university projects or internships involving PLCs, sensors, or IoT devices is highly valued. Familiarity with controllers like Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or ABB, as well as fundamental understanding of IIoT protocols like MQTT, Modbus, and OPC UA, is required. Basic knowledge of industrial networks and introductory experience with integration tools are advantageous. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for this role, as you will be troubleshooting connectivity and data-format issues. While familiarity with SCADA/MES systems, commercial IoT platforms, and emerging Industrial Data Ops practices is preferred, it is not mandatory.
