Job Description
- You will be responsible for the preparation of financial statements for a portfolio of properties. This includes tasks such as journal entries, general ledger month-end close, cash management, audits, bank reconciliations, spreadsheet preparation, and acquiring a working knowledge of real estate accounting software. You will need to prepare timely and accurate monthly property financial statements for a 4 to 5 property portfolio by deadlines established within Client Accounting Services and by external clients. In addition, you will be required to prepare additional schedules to support account balances or as specifically required by owners. It is crucial to submit financial statements and work papers in reviewable form, including proper documentation, within the specified time frame for review. Your responsibilities will also include cash management of assigned properties. This involves reconciling all bank statements on a timely basis and following up on all outstanding checks and reconciling items monthly. You will assume responsibility for coordinating and organizing year-end audit work and preparing supporting schedules. It is essential to maintain a working knowledge of mortgage agreements and management agreements for assigned properties. To be successful in this role, you should have a strong finance background, with preference given to Commerce graduates or Post-Graduates. A minimum of 3-6 years of operational/general ledger accounting and finance experience is required. You should possess good analytical skills, attention to detail, logical thinking, and a positive attitude to develop solutions quickly. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for interacting with clients, along with strong interpersonal skills. Consistency in values, principles, and work ethics is a must. Proficiency in MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required. In this position, you will work within established procedures with minimal supervision, identifying problems and relevant issues in straightforward situations. You will be expected to assess each problem using standard procedures and make sound decisions. A motivated, positive, and flexible approach to work is necessary, along with being proactive in identifying issues and potential solutions. Self-supporting and diligent work habits are valued, along with the ability to work methodically and efficiently. You should have a process-driven approach to work, be able to deliver to tight deadlines, and have a desire to learn quickly and develop.
