Job Summary ServiceNow Agile Product Owner (Supervising Associate/Manager/Asst. Director)
The Scrum product owner is typically a project's key stakeholder. Part of the product owner responsibilities is to have a vision of what he or she wishes to build, and convey that vision to the scrum team. This is key to successfully starting any agile software development project. The agile product owner does this in part through the product backlog, which is a prioritized features list for the product.
The product owner is commonly a lead user of the system or someone from marketing, product management or anyone with a solid understanding of users, the market place, the competition and of future trends for the domain or type of system being developed.
Product Owner facilitate business process improvement via the methodical investigation, analysis, review and documentation of all or part of a business in terms of business functions and processes. They successfully manage the requirements development process through the elicitation, analysis, specification and verification and management of multiple levels of requirements. PO create viable and consumable specifications/user stories including acceptance criteria in preparation for the construction and testing of IT solutions.
Essential Functions of the Job:
At the minimum 10+ years experience in business analysis and Product Ownership / management.
Understands customer needs
Convey vision to the scrum team
Reviews and prioritize the user stories (requirements)
Defines Sprint / Iteration Objectives
Contributes in preparing the Release Plan / Program Increment (PI) Plan
Coordinates and synchronizes with other Product Owners, part of the same Agile Release Train
Defines the Product Roadmap, Defines Definition of Done Defines Definition of Ready
Develops meaningful user stories
Ensure the quality of user stories by validating the user stories
Design the application design and develop code if necessary
Must be a go-getter and problem solver with entrepreneurial attitude starves for results; who can deal with uncertainties and ambiguities, act as an innovation agent, demonstrate self-learning of new functional and technical domains/skills to effectively contribute in the programs
Building the foundation for the development effort by capturing the business context - problem, current state, desired future state, capability gap assessments, objectives, business needs and impacted user groups
Developing requirements (business, user and software requirements functional and non-functional) and establishing traceability to the business vision
Proficiency in developing user-stories, acceptance criteria, business process models, prototypes to ensuring the requirements are specified in a manner suitable for the intended audience and are understandable, unambiguous and capable of being implemented and tested
Managing the requirements through the project lifecycle by establishing and maintaining agreements between the customer and the project team
Playing a critical communications role by interacting with user (business domains and internal IT services) and with developers and testing personnel (technical domain) and with lead
Ability to navigate the IT team and business sponsors through a level of ambiguity including business process change; building organization and structure to requirements to drive out and define detailed requirements in an efficient manner
Working with the project manager and the business customer(s) to define stakeholder requirements, requirements conflict resolution procedures and the requirements team structure
Responsible for ensuring change control and change management procedures are followed within the project team as they relate to requirements
Ensuring that quality business analysis standards are met as prescribed by the organization through the effective implementation or use of approved processes, methodologies and deliverables
Close engagement with other project stakeholders Solution Architects, Developers, and Testers, Product team, Security Consultants to make sure the business analysis inputs are productive to execute their relevant functions. As a business analyst, your success will be measured as how effectively you enable other job functions to execute operations.
Analytical/Decision making responsibility
Under minimal supervision selecting the appropriate methods to elicit and document requirements and adjusting approach to suit location and role of stakeholders who will include service owners, support teams, technical and project leads from the programme and the vendor
Defining the procedures on how the requirements will be managed (i.e. base lining requirements, requirements change control and requirements traceability)
Selecting the appropriate analysis and specification models and ensuring that requirements are of high quality
Assessing change requests related to requirements to assess overall impact
Determining fit for purpose requirements
