Job Description
- As the Health & Safety (EHS) strategy leader, your primary responsibility is to drive the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) strategy, standards, and policies in alignment with statutory and regulatory requirements. You will ensure compliance with all applicable legislations related to Safety, Health, and Environment across the Plant/Organization. Regular review of legal compliance trackers and implementation of countermeasures for identified gaps on a monthly basis are essential duties. You are expected to act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in EHS, providing expertise in environmental areas, risk assessments, processes, and auditing. Developing and implementing a safety risk management framework to facilitate informed business decisions will be a key focus. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining the Management Information System (MIS), including tracking leading and lagging indicators of EHS functions on a monthly basis and presenting them to top management. Collaboration with the plant HR team is crucial for the coordination of training and development activities related to EHS. Organizing awareness events such as World Environment Day, National Safety Week, Earth Day, Water Day, and facilitating unit safety committee meetings are part of fostering an EHS compliant culture within the organization. Managing the EHS budget, formulating corrective action plans, driving effective risk assessments, and recommending mitigation initiatives are integral components of the role. Maintenance of safety documentation as per Safety Manual requirements and record-keeping related to first aid, Medical Treatment cases, as well as Injury and Fatality records are expected tasks. Regular monitoring and review of legal compliance, conducting EHS inspections and audits (e.g., PPE audit, machine guard audit, interlocks audit), and organizing mock drills for disaster scenarios are essential for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. Your dedication to EHS excellence will contribute significantly to the overall safety and well-being of the organization.,
