Engineering Manager Java (Fintech Domain)

Role Overview
We are seeking an Engineering Manager with a strong background in Java backend development and proven leadership in managing high-performing engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have fintech domain experience, be technically hands-on, and possess the ability to drive projects from concept to delivery while mentoring a team of at least 5 engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 5+ Java backend engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and ownership.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and business stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, and cloud-native development.
- Oversee design, architecture, code reviews, and best practices to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Drive engineering productivity through CI/CD pipelines, automation, and DevOps practices.
- Ensure delivery timelines, quality standards, and security requirements are met for all releases.
- Mentor and coach team members for skill enhancement and career growth.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies in Java and fintech, recommending relevant adoption.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 610 years of total software development experience, with at least 23 years in a people management role.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, RESTful APIs.
- Experience in fintech / banking / payments domain is mandatory.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Solid understanding of design patterns, system architecture, and distributed systems.
- Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Proven ability to manage, mentor, and grow engineering teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Knowledge of DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of security & compliance standards relevant to fintech.

- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
