Role Summary:

This Cloud engineer will act as the SME for Cloud native toolsets to support cloud platforms

Responsibilities

  • Develop and organize cloud systems infrastrucre.
  • Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Offer guidance in infrastructure movement techniques including bulk application transfers into the cloud.
  • Implement all the required components and spin up environment in the cloud platform
  • Develop the strategy, prioritization, and timeline for moving existing application components to containers. Collaborate with developers to implement the migration of components onto containers and to the Cloud.
  • Hands-on setup, configuration, trouble-shooting, and implementation of Dockers (or Kubernetes), and Jenkins as used to deploy, manage, and support the ported application components.
  • Create, publish, and roll out standards and guides for developers
  • Identify and resolve issues and impediments to the platform migration
  • Quickly come up to speed on existing tools and policies provided by the Operations and Application Support groups.
  • Develop test strategy and test plan for ported components in the cloud
  • Manage failover systems/environment and BCP

Required Qualifications

  • experience in designing, executing and supporting IT cloud solutions.
  • Comprehensive experience with at least one of: Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Open Cloud products and architecture / delivery of solutions in this space.
  • Hands-on experience of running Docker Containers, EKS and multi-tenant Kubernetes at scale
  • Cloud Networking including deep understanding of Kubernetes networking, firewalls, VPC, load-balancing
  • Cloud Storage including understanding of Kubernetes storage operators, AWS S3, EC2
  • System observability and tracing using tools like- Prometheus, Fluentd and Jaegar
  • Knowledge of CI / CD and implementation experience using Jenkins (or similar)
  • Infrastructure as Code- architecture and hands-on knowledge using Terraform/ CloudFormation / Azure Resource Manager
  • Configuration management using Ansible, Chef or Salt-Stack
  • Architecture and hands-on experience of Open Systems and Operating Systems- Linux and Unix
  • Excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends.
  • Proven track record in not only solutioning, but also encouraging adoption and communication with internal customers.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated cloud reports to management and other IT development partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a Solution, Technical, Application, or DevOps architect
  • Experience as an application developer in Java/Python/Node
  • Experience with system administration, application support and operations
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, or other scrum tools and Kanban
