Job Description
Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer (PHP) to join our product engineering team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in modernizing legacy PHP applications, designing scalable APIs, implementing frontend migration to React, and working with modern DevOps practices including Docker and CI/CD. This role will play a key part in transforming legacy systems into high-performance, modular, and maintainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Migrate and modernize legacy applications (PHP 5.3 / CodeIgniter 1.7.2) into Laravel 12 using the BFF (Backend-for-Frontend) pattern.
- Design and develop robust, scalable REST APIs, service layers, and middleware components.
- Refactor front-end applications from jQuery-based SSR to modular React 19 SPAs with TypeScript, Ant Design, and Vite.
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using Git-based tools (e.g., Bitbucket, Jenkins).
- Ensure code quality through linting, static analysis, and unit/integration testing (PHPUnit, Pest, Jest, Cypress).
- Develop and maintain Dockerized environments for development and production.
- Contribute to microservice development using Go (Golang) and the Gin framework.
- Implement event-driven patterns using Kafka or Beanstalkd for service communication.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, and UI/UX for feature delivery.
Required Skills & Experience
Back-End:
- Strong experience in legacy PHP system migration (PHP 5.x, CodeIgniter)
- Laravel 12 with deep understanding of BFF patterns, middleware, and APIs
- Experience building containerized applications (Docker)
Front-End:
- Proficiency with React 19, TypeScript, Ant Design, and Vite
- Experience refactoring SSR applications to modern frontend architectures
DevOps & Testing:
- CI/CD pipeline setup with Git-based tools (e.g., Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins)
- Testing frameworks: PHPUnit, Pest (PHP); Jest, Cypress (JS)
- Familiarity with code quality tools and test coverage enforcement
Microservices & Event-Driven Architecture:
- Working knowledge of Golang, preferably with Gin framework
- Familiar with message brokers (Kafka, Beanstalkd), pub/sub models, event contracts
- Experience with mocking strategies and test-driven development (TDD)
Nice to Have:
- Experience with service orchestration
- Exposure to GraphQL or gRPC
- Knowledge of container registries and environment-specific configuration management
