Job Description
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To educate students according to the guidelines provided by the curriculum framework under the overall guidance of the competent education authority;
- To educate students according to the educational needs, abilities and attainment potential of individual students entrusted to his/her care by the Head of School or Unit Head.
JOB DUTIES:
- Teaches skills and knowledge in foreign language instruction to secondary pupils, utilizing core curriculum and other appropriate learning activities approved by the Board of Education. Modern foreign language teachers (French, German, Spanish) teach aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. Latin teachers concentrate primarily on the study of syntax, morphology, and vocabulary, with emphasis on reading and translation of classical literature.
- Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the basic instructional philosophy.
- Provides learning experiences which develop the basic communication skills, utilizing tape recorders and other electronic equipment as appropriate.
- Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Instructs pupils in safe operation of electronic equipment used n language instruction. Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs as required.
- Develops pupil understanding and appreciation of culture of countries where the studied language is spoken.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
- Evaluates each pupil's progress in aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing the foreign language in relationship to the level being taught.
- Selects and requisitions books, instructional-Aids, and instructional supplies; maintains required inventory records.
- Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
- Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
- Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
- Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Diploma/Bachelors/Masters/PhD degree in respective language.
- The candidate must have B.ed Degree.
- Completion of an internship or field experience in secondary education
- Current certification in science education
- Strong communication skills; both in-orally and written
- People management skills
- Creativity skill
- Experience dealing with conflict
- Comfort in a team environment
