ALQIMI is currently seeking a Head of Engineering to join its SIFT development team at One Horizon Center in Gurugram. SIFT is a big data platform developed by ALQIMI as a complete end-to-end, system-of-systems capable of open source data collections, all-source data fusion, analytics, artificial intelligence, visualizations and more. In 2015, SIFT was used to detect and analyze the now famous Russian Troll farms accused of US election meddling. Other successful implementations of SIFT have taken place with IBM, the United States Department of Energy and Bajaj Capital. The SIFT platform is based on open source technologies and the belief the primary building blocks of a powerful big data platform should be developed internally.
POSITION OVERVIEW
As Technical Lead SIFT India Development, perform analysis of project requirements, manage team task allocation, assist laying out a blueprint for each project to include project scope and parameters, and clearly communicate the goals of the project to the team.
As a Technical Lead SIFT India Development must lead the team towards success. Should provide the development team direction and make them understand what is expected of them. Clearly explain the roles of each member of the team and must effectively manage, utilize, and cultivate the team which consists of individuals with different skills so that each member contributes effectively to the best of their abilities.
As a Technical Lead - It is expected that at least 25%-50% of the time will be in developing code as a senior developer.
The candidate shall have at least 10 years of experience. The selected candidate will work with and manage an initial team of 12 engineers, big data developers, NLP experts, analysts, Java developers and data scientists in India and USA with direct/exclusive responsibility over 8 developers. ALQIMI expects to significantly grow the team in the coming months and years.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Leads the engineering team in the delivery of platform functionality
2. Seeks excellence in all engineering disciplines to include data processing, quality assurance, application developments, analytics, and data warehousing
3. Manages day-to-day activities of the engineering teams as well as the management and execution of site/software development projects against delivery commitments and project plans
4. In charge of the management of the departments staffing, resources, and mentoring, and maintaining a best-in-class engineering department
5. Provides technical guidance and direction, as well as hands-on resource and project management, for all site/software development activities
6. Plays a leading role in the recruiting activities of the engineering department to ensure consistency in departmental efficiency
7. Plays a mentorship role to key engineering personnel, assisting in their duties upon request, and constantly promoting the growth of their professional skills, readying them for the assumption of his duties in his absence
8. Works closely with engineering team leads in the management and development of strategic planning
9. Works with senior engineering management in ensuring that systems meet the overall business requirements and standards
10. Tak the lead role in troubleshooting any performance issues at the front-end user and back end user levels
11. Keeps up with new technologies and identifies correct schema for the site/software in development
12. Participate in and manage the teams agile software development process
13. Work with product management and engage internal (and External) customers to understand requirements and gather feedback on solutions
14. Perform as an individual contributor, write software code, and lead by example
15. Monitor and ensure project progress toward meeting its objectives. Escalate issues when necessary
16. Manage risk and any issues as they arise, escalating to senior business or technical roles as required
17. Ensure highest development coding standards are observed and are supported by current Alqimi documentation standards
